I was trained as a family therapist when the field was relatively new. Systems thinking was new and exciting. As family therapists, we believed we had stumbled upon the answer that would solve the world's problems. In the last twenty years family therapists have as a general rule become a bit more humble. We realize now that our way of looking at the world is not the only way.

Systems theory is an extremely powerful and efficient way to solve problems. Some family therapists, myself included, work not only with the external family system but also with an individual's internal family system.

My post graduate training was primariliy focused on Bowen Family Systems Theory. I also have a certificate in Transpersonal Psychology.
